Das 07 (sete) Seleções Campeãs Mundiais desde a primeira edição da Copa do Mundo de Futebol em 1930, começaram a Copa do Mundo de 2014: no grupo A, a Seleção Brasileira com 05 (cinco) títulos conquistados e a Espanha com 01 (um) título; no grupo B, a França, dona de 01 (um) título; no grupo D, a Itália com suas 04 (quatro) conquistas, a Inglaterra, com 01 (uma) conquista e o Uruguai, com seus 02 (dois) troféus; no grupo F, a Argentina, dona de com 02 (dois) troféus e no grupo G, a Alemanha, dona de 03 (três) títulos.
Para as quartas de final se classificaram 03 (três) das 07 (sete) seleções campeãs mundiais: a campeã Seleção Brasileira que enfrenta a outra campeã mundial a Seleção da Alemanha, no dia 08/07/2014 (terça-feira), às 17 horas, no Mineirão em Belo Horizonte-MG; a campeã Seleção da Argentina que enfrentará a dona de 03 (três) vices campeonatos mundiais (1974, 1978 e 2010), a Holanda, no dia 09/07/2014 (quarta-feira), às 17 horas, no Itaquerão em são Paulo-SP.
A Holanda perdeu os títulos de campeã mundial em 1974, jogando contra a Alemanha, em 1978 enfrentando a Argentina e em 2010 perdendo para a Espanha.
Dos 04 (quatro) confortos em Copas do Mundo entre Holanda e Argentina, a Holanda tem levado a melhor, pois, perdeu uma, empatou um e ganhou duas. Já o Brasil e Alemanha somente se enfrentaram por uma vez em jogo pela Copa do Mundo, em 2002, quando o Brasil venceu pelo placar de 2 a 0, ambos os gols marcados por Ronaldo.
