A água ganhou um dia específico para ser comemorada, devido à importância primordial que tem para a nossa sobrevivência. O Dia Mundial da Água foi criado pela ONU em 1992.

Este ano de 2013, a Unesco estabeleceu como o ano Internacional de Cooperação pela Água.

Cerca de 70% da superfície da Terra é ocupada pelas águas, mas o percentual de água doce é de 3%, sendo que apenas 0,01% fica disponível para uso, portanto, a água doce é um recurso que podemos classificar como finito em nosso planeta.

Todos precisam dar a sua contribuição, começando pelo uso racional da água, o que pode ser realizado com pequenas medidas de economia.
